World War 1 Death penny/memorial plaque Horace Glover 50355 Gunner, First battle of Marne.
Royal Field Artillery 40th Brigade 49 Bty,
Born 1889,
Died 14th September 1914 of his wounds , 25 years of age, injured during the first battle of Marne. This battle marked the beginning of trench warfare on the Western Front and saved Paris from being captured and was a great strategic victory which unfortunately resulted in a lot of casualties on all sides.
Son of John & Mary Ann Glover of great Gidding, Peterborough who was a member of the Lincolnshire Constabulary,
