A silvered & enamel item of insignia of the type issued pre-1952, with uni-lingual French obverse language legend.

The silver War Services 'A' Palm (of the pattern instituted during the reign of King Albert I, indicates insignia awarded for services during the Great War,

This type of insignia with uni-lingual obverse legend, was the type of Order that was widely awarded to Allied - including British and British Empire Officers - during both the Great War & Second World War,

Per the pre-1951 Belgian 'Order of Precedence' the Order of Leopold II was the 5th ranked national order in the Belgian order of precedence. The decoration had been established on, 24 August 1900, by Leopold II as king of the Congo Free State and was in 1908, upon Congo being handed over to Belgium, incorporated into the Belgian awards system,
